Apple TV 4K (4th Gen) Goes on Sale November 13 for $299

Published:

Apple’s new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) goes on sale on November 13, 2026, at $299 in the US. Apple announced it on October 13 and opened pre-orders the same day. Here is what Apple’s own announcement confirms about the chip, the remote, the Siri AI requirements and speaker support.

Price and availability

  • Price: $299 in the US, or $49.83 a month for six months through Apple Card Monthly Installments, a 0% APR plan that requires credit approval.
  • Pre-orders: open since October 13 in the US and 29 other countries and regions.
  • In stores: from November 13, 2026.

Chip and streaming

The box uses Apple’s A19 chip. Apple says it offers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. The chip adds a dedicated AV1 decoder, which Apple says supports more efficient streaming. Apple’s announcement does not state the storage size.

Siri AI: what it needs

Siri AI is in beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) and requires tvOS 27.2 beta. At launch it works in English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. The conditions Apple sets are:

  • the home owner needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad on the latest software, with Siri AI turned on and a supported language selected;
  • requests that use personal context need a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device;
  • it is not initially available in the EU on iOS or iPadOS;
  • some server-side features have daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will cost a fee in future.

Three far-field microphones support hands-free “Hey Siri.” Apple says microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves, separate from the rest of the system.

Siri Remote and Find My

The remote keeps its design but gains Find My support. Apple lists these conditions:

  • Find My needs the 2nd generation remote or later.
  • Playing a sound to locate the remote is exclusive to the newest remote.
  • Precision Finding needs the 4th generation remote paired with iPhone 17 or later (excluding the 17e) or iPhone Air, and availability varies by region.
  • The new remote works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K, and is sold separately.

Home theatre audio

Four-speaker surround sound is supported with HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation). The speakers must be in matching front and rear pairs, and the system calibrates itself to the room automatically.

Smart home role

Apple TV 4K acts as a home hub for accessories, scenes, automations and guest mode. Compatible doorbells can show notifications on the TV. Camera descriptions and summarised notifications need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan. Wi-Fi and Thread are built in, and Continuity Camera supports FaceTime calls from compatible iPhone and iPad devices.

Points to check before buying

Owners of an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) can try Siri AI in beta without new hardware, subject to the device requirements above. The changes Apple lists for the new model are the A19 chip, the AV1 decoder and the Find My features on the remote, which Apple also sells separately for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. Readers in the EU should note that Siri AI is not initially available there.
