Nintendo has set out a year of events for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, spread across hardware, games, a film, concerts and merchandise. Most items have a confirmed date. Several have no announced price. This is a summary of what Nintendo’s own announcement lists.
Already released: Switch 2 hardware
Nintendo lists three anniversary hardware items with an October 29 date:
- a Nintendo Switch 2 40th Anniversary Edition console;
- an Anniversary Pro Controller, sold with or without a display stand;
- an anniversary carrying case with a screen protector.
The stand version of the controller is sold only at Nintendo NEW YORK, Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO and the Nintendo Store. Nintendo’s announcement gives no prices for these items. It does give the standard Switch 2 system price as $499.99.
The game: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2
The centrepiece release is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, which launched on November 5 at $59.99. It was first shown at a Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026. Nintendo’s store page says it is digital only and uses the Switch 2 microphone for ocarina playing. Buyers who purchase digitally before November 23, 2026 get an anniversary wallpaper.
Still to come
Nintendo’s list of later items, with the timing it gave for each:
- Playable and electric ocarinas: later in 2026. The electric version is made by HORI.
- Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo: 2027. Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time store page says they unlock retro-style masks in the game.
- LEGO Link and Epona set: 1,750 pieces, spring 2027.
- Hasbro Electronic Master Sword: spring 2027.
The Mineru’s Construct amiibo, from Tears of the Kingdom, was dated September 17. Nintendo lists no prices for any of the items above.
Film and concerts
A live-action Zelda film has a worldwide theatrical release date of April 30, 2027. Nintendo also lists four concert tour stops in 2027:
- Tokyo in January;
- Chicago in February;
- London in April;
- Melbourne in May.
Nintendo Museum in Kyoto
At the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Nintendo lists a Zelda-themed ticket design from September 9 and new photo spots from November 5.
What to watch for
Prices are the main gap. Nintendo’s announcement lists dates without prices for the anniversary console, Pro Controller, case, amiibo and the ocarinas, so buyers should check Nintendo’s store listings and the retailer before ordering. The stand version of the controller is limited to Nintendo’s own stores. Several 2027 items carry only a season or month, not a day.
