Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2: Price, Size and Features

Published:

Nintendo released a remade The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on November 5, 2026. It is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and Nintendo’s store page lists a digital edition only. Here is what the official pages confirm about price, download size and how it plays.

Price, format and download size

  • Price: $59.99 in the US, according to Nintendo’s announcement of its Zelda 40th anniversary plans.
  • Format: the store page lists a digital edition. It does not mention a physical game-key card.
  • Download size: 24.9 GB, so plan storage space before buying.
  • Early purchase bonus: a Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary digital wallpaper for anyone who buys digitally before 11:59 p.m. PT on November 23, 2026.
  • Players: single player, on one system.

What is new compared with the original

Nintendo describes the game as rebuilt for Switch 2, with completely overhauled visuals, orchestral music, voice acting and expanded cutscenes. Its trailer post adds that the soundtrack is fully symphonic and that cutscenes are fully voiced with extra dialogue.

The same post introduces a new area called the Hall of Fallen Heroes. It displays statues of defeated monsters, and players can read about them or challenge them to a rematch.

Playing the ocarina with a microphone

The headline feature uses the Switch 2 microphone. Nintendo says players can hum a melody Link has learned, or play it on a real instrument, and the in-game ocarina responds. Standard button controls remain available, so the microphone is an option rather than a requirement.

Other control and display details from the store page:

  • Ranged weapons can be aimed with buttons or motion controls, and this can be changed in the Options menu.
  • Jump and dash controls have been improved, and the camera moves in a more modern way.
  • TV, tabletop and handheld modes are supported.
  • HDR and variable refresh rate output work on compatible TVs, and audio supports surround sound.

Online features, amiibo and the companion app

Save Data Cloud is listed, and Nintendo notes that a Nintendo Switch Online membership, sold separately, is needed for certain features. Existing Legend of Zelda amiibo unlock in-game rewards. Two new amiibo, Young Link and Young Zelda, are due in 2027 and unlock retro-style masks.

A companion service called ZELDA NOTES runs inside the Nintendo Switch App. Nintendo says it adds daily accomplishments, image-based location challenges and an ocarina feature. It needs a Nintendo Account and an internet connection, and mobile data charges may apply.

Accessibility and ratings

The store page lists the game as playable without motion controls and without touch controls, with colour alternatives available. In the US, the ESRB rating is for animated blood and fantasy violence. The game supports 16 languages, including American and British English.

Who this release suits

Nintendo positions the release as part of the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series. Because it is exclusive to Switch 2, owners of the original Switch cannot play it. Players weighing the purchase should note the digital-only listing and the 24.9 GB size before buying.
