With the WF-1000XM4, people can listen for up to eight hours on a full charge, with noise canceling enabled. The earplugs can be fully charged twice in the supplied box. By charging them for five minutes, the earbuds last another hour.

Sony has also resolved a common complaint about the WF-1000XM3. For example, these earplugs are sweat and water resistant, unlike their predecessor. The WF-1000XM4 also has a Speak-to-Chat function. This will pause the music when the wearer starts talking. The caps only respond to the user’s voice, Sony reports. Placing the palm of your hand over the earplugs temporarily disables the noise cancellation.
